These program rules are out of competition

This program refers to the FRQ’s Common General Rules (CGR), which govern all of the FRQ’s programming. All conditions and modalities of this Call are detailed in the Guidelines for Applicants, and these Guidelines take precedence over the CGR. Conditions are also subject to the FRQ Open Access Policy for the Dissemination of Research, Policy for the Responsible Conduct of Research and Knowledge Mobilization Strategy.

Since 2013, the FRQ and FWO have collaborated on the Bilateral Research Cooperation Program between Québec and Flanders. This fourth joint call for proposals is a continuation of this rich and beneficial partnership.

The primary objective of this Program is to contribute to the development of scientific excellence and cooperation by supporting and encouraging researchers from Quebec universities to collaborate with Flemish research partners. It aims to promote interdisciplinary (or FRQ inter-domain) and fundamental research between these two communities.

The call is open to all scientific fields covered by the FRQ. For this call, proposals must cover research domains falling under at least two of the three branches of the FRQ:

For this program, funded research projects should:

  • Bring together Quebec and Flemish expertise and experience
  • Consolidate and develop interdisciplinary teams
  • Allow the advancement of fundamental research

Note that only one submission is required. The proposal must be completed and submitted online on the FWO platform by the Flemish research team on behalf of the Quebec team. Please consult the Guidelines for Applicants for more details (see above).

Please refer to the Toolbox for documents that are pertinent to this Call.

The FWO supports fundamental research, strategic basic research, as well as infrastructure in the Flemish community, stimulates international cooperation and promotes equal opportunities. Visit the FWO’s website for more information.
